Graeme Souness shares the unique contract offer he thinks Liverpool should make to Mo Salah

Liverpool and Sa⛦lah are seemingly at an impasse in negotiat♐ions right now.

Salah wants a three-year deal, but Liverpool only want to offer him a two-year contract extensi🐠on at this poin🍸t.

Salah actively looked for journalists to speak to about this situation after the game against Southampt🔜on last weekend, and he made it clear that he’s yet to have an offer from Liverpool.

Liverpool will surely want to keep Salah after his incredible form this season, but they ne🃏ed to find a way to make this work for all parties.

Speaking on the Up Front Podcast, Graeme Souness has been discussing this situation,♏ and he’s come up with a unique contract offer that he feels would work for everyone.

Graeme Souness makes Mo Salah contract suggestion

Souness says that Liverpooඣl should offer Salah unique terms on a new deal.

The pundit says that Liverpool should offer Salah a three-year deal with a break clause after year one and🌃 two, while also offering insurance of income if the player gets injured.

“I’ve said this already, that there’s a millꦓion ways to cut this cake. How about this as a scenario?” Souness began.

“Money will be important to 🐓him, because wheꦬn you’re a football player, you know in terms of living a normal life, football life is a very short life.”

“So if he’s worried about, and there’ll be one thing on his mind that he worries about, I’ll sign a three-year deal, right? I want the optio⭕n, after the first year and the second year, to leave, but if I get injured in the first year, I want money for three years. You’re safeguarding his income for three years, but he also has a door open to leave if he wants to leave.

“If I was Liverpool, I would take that.”

How much does Mohamed Salah earn?

Souness makes an interesting suggestion for Salah’s contract here, aไnd this is a deal that could work🐽 for all parties.

However, offering to pay a player his full wages for three years if he picks up an ♎injury after year one is risky.

Indeed, Salah earns a lot of money, and if 🌱he re-signs his Liverpool contract on the same terms, that’s a serious liability for the Reds.

Salah c𓂃urrently earns, via , £350,000-a-week, which works out at around £18m-a-y💮ear.

So, if Liverpool offered this sort of contract to Salah, they’d🔯 be almost gambling with £36m if Salah gets injured in year one.

Of course, that gamble may well be worth it.

Salah’s injury record at Liverpool is stellar.

Meanwhile, in the grand scheme of things, £36m isn’t that much money in football, espe✱cially when you’re securing the services of a world-class player like Salah.

Liverpool have paid similar sums for players that haven’t worked out, suc🐎h as Naby Keita, so pledging that sort of money for🔯 a player you already know is an almost guaranteed source of goals isn’t a bad idea.

Perhaps Liverpool should take Souness’ advic💦e on board and offer Salah these unique terms to keep him at Anfield.
