‘Gone backwards’… Andy Halliday names three Celtic players that have got worse under Brendan Rodgers
Watching Celtic this season has been a bit of a hard slog. Especially over the last few weeks.
🦄Long gone are the days of Ange Postecoglou’s swashbuckling football. It has now been replaced with a slow, snails-paced game that the Celtic fans have not seen since Rodgers’ final season at the club.
What is also missing is those individual players who would light up a game at a moment’s notice. Jota has been replaced with Luis Palma.
And whilst Palma is doing ok, he’s just not got the electric pace and dribbling the Portuguese ace had. Aaron Mooy has been replaced by Odin Thiago Holm.
𝓡Whilst I appreciate Mooy wasn’t a dribbler, he could pick out moments of magic that could unlock the best of defences.
🍸But the bulk of the treble-winning squad is still there and Andy Halliday has named three players he says that are playing worse now than they were under Ange Postecoglou.
Halliday said [], “Kyogo﷽ for me, as it stands right now, he’s been a shell of the player we’ve seen last year. What was it, 35 goals?
🐽“We’re now sitting in December and he’s scored one more goal than Dessers who has had nothing but criticism for months.
“And I think again, I could go through a list. Alistair Johnston for me has went backwards. I think Greg Taylor is the same.
🍒“I think there’s a right few players that, right now, Brendan Rodgers not getting the best out of.”
🍬I hate to say it, but Halliday is correct. These three have regressed under Rodgers and it’s hard to see how they going to get out of it.
🌞Normally ever reliable, this trio of players look to be suffering from a crisis of confidence brought on by trying to play a system that is completely alien to them.
🌊Rodgers must do something and quickly to change that because with the next two games coming up, the Celtic gaffer is going to need them performing if he wants to pick up all six points.
