Gianfranco Zola admits he is ‘most surprised’ by Chelsea star who has become ‘sensational’
Chelsea have made an encouraging start to the new Premier League season.
It was never and still won’t be easy for new boss Enzo Maresca simply because he has walked into four walls of instability and a Chelsea side you feel can implode at any moment.
That’s what happens when you spend money like crazy, try to change so quickly, but also recruit young stars and proceed to turnover managers for fun.
The powers that be at Chelsea have taken many verbal hits since they replaced the previously very popular Roman Abramovich.
But you sense that there could now be light at the end of the tunnel and there is one man who is showing it in bucket loads.
Gianfranco Zola spoke of the brilliance Cole Palmer is showing in Chelsea colours and how he has been doing ‘amazing things’ since last season.
Palmer was one of the project-like buys from the London club when he arrived from Manchester City last summer and now he is one of the best players in Europe.
Zola did admit that he has been left ‘most surprised’ by Palmer because, whilst he saw his quality, he probably didn’t see it to such a consistent level, as posted by .
The 22-year-old stunned even probably Chelsea fans with how he performed last season because it was beyond what many imagined, as he netted 22 Premier League goals and supplied 11 assists.
Palmer recently scored four goals for Chelsea to further prove that he is on the up and he isn’t stopping any time soon.
Gianfranco Zola hails Cole Palmer’s talents at Chelsea
“I am very impressed because he is doing amazing things,” said Zola. “He has been doing amazing things since last season and this season.
“As I said, he is probably one of the players that surprised me the most because I saw the qualities straightaway. But I didn’t see all of this coming. This is all down to him and the people that have coached him and helped him.
“He is doing amazing things there. He needs to continue because he is becoming a sensational player. He has the ability to entertain. He always produces good passes. Very good assists. What I love about him is that when he receives the ball, he is looking up and many times he has the pass in mind before he receives the ball. This is a quality only big players have. I am impressed.”

Cole Palmer working under new England manager Thomas Tuchel
The last Chelsea manager who the fans took to was their Champions League-winning boss, Thomas Tuchel, who departed as soon as the new regime entered the building.
But Tuchel is now the new England manager and it will provide him the chance to work with players like Palmer and several old faces.

From the recently departed Conor Gallagher to the man who scored the goal in the Champions League final against Manchester City, Mason Mount.
They should be looking forward to reuniting with Tuchel and perhaps having an advantage over others in playing for their country if they perform at club level.
