Gary Neville shares worrying thing he noticed about Kai Havertz during Arsenal 5-1 Manchester City

Kai Havertz missed a glorious opportunity to put Arsenal 2-0 up against Manchester City in the opening 45 minutes.

The Germany international dis🅠played real selflessness to square the ball for Martin Odegaard after a mistake from Manuel Akanji in the opening two minutes, opting to provide for the Norway internation🐻al rather than take a shot himself.

History repeated itself in the 26th minute after a strong tackle from Declan Rice again put the Arsenal No.29 through on goal – although this time, there was no teammate bes﷽ide him, and he dragged the ball past Stefan Ortega’s post.

Just before Kai Havertz wasted this chance, Gary Neville noticed something worrying about the German.

Gary Neville saw Kai Havertz desperately looking for assistance

Most s🌊trikers – at any level of football – would take a shot at goal without hesitation from roughly 12 yards out, especially unchallenged.

However, Neville noticed Havertz desperately looking ar🤡ound for help after Rice’s tackle put him clean through on goal, longing for a teammate to provide an option for a tap in, like Odegaard did in the second minute.

Speaking on commentary duty for , the 49-year-old said: “He didn’t want it. He didn’t want it first time around (for Odegaard’s goal) and didn’t want it there either. Havertz is having a confi🉐dence crisis.”

Neville also felt Peter Bankes helped Arsenal beat Manchesteඣr City by providing some assistance for Thomas Partey’s goal.

Arsenal No.29 grew into the game and silenced Gary Neville

In fairness to the 25-year-old, he did not allow that miss to spoil his game.

Havertz eventually did score with a brilliant finish in the 76th൩ minute, to make it 4-1 and kill off an﷽y chance of a Manchester City fightback.

Interestingly, the Arsenal No.29 could have crossed the ball to Odegaard, who wa💛s rushing in at the back post, while Gabriel Martinelli was also besides him, so he clearly gained confidence throughout the game to eventually be a🌱 bit more independent in the final third.
