Gary Neville delivers glowing verdict of Mikey Moore after Tottenham beat Manchester United

It’s amazing what a few weeks can do because Tottenham fans now feel on cloud nine.

Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson can’t stop scoring, Mikey Moore is getting much-called for game time and the team have kept back-to-back clean sheets.

Tottenham’s 3-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday was a statement of intent from Ange Postecoglou that his team mean serious business.

Yes, the home side were down to ten men for large parts when Bruno Fernandes was sent off, but before that, the damage was already being done.

It was so easy for the London club that they brought on their much-talked-about academy star Moore for about 20 minutes of action.

Timo Werner started on the left for Tottenham, with Son Heung-min absent through injury, although, the German didn’t cover himself in glory.

The on-loan forward missed serval chances and there were chants of Moore from Spurs fans during the game, and then they got their wish.

Postecoglou brought on Moore after 76 minutes and Gary Neville liked what he saw from the 17-year-old.

In stoppage time, with Tottenham looking to pile more misery on Manchester United, Moore cut in from the left flank and watched his shot narrowly miss the post.

Neville spoke in glowing terms about the player and how he looked ‘interesting’ during his cameo appearance, as he told (29/09/24 at 6:25 pm).

Mikey Moore impresses for Tottenham against Manchester United

“He has been sharp since he has come on, Mikey Moore,” said Neville. “He went for a curling shot, just a yard too wide.

“But he has looked interesting in this game, over on that far side against Mazraoui. It has been tough for the fullback. It has been a really good day for Spurs and those fans in that far corner.”

Should Mikey Moore start in the Europa League against Ferencvárosi?

Tottenham won their opening Europa League match and now they travel to Hungary to take on Ferencvárosi on Thursday night.

If Son is still absent, or only able to make the bench, then many will be calling for Moore to start ahead of Werner.

Before the international break, the London club face a tricky trip to the South Coast to take on free-scoring Brighton, who conceded four goals to Cole Palmer at the weekend.

From an attacking sense, Spurs are going to enjoy themselves, but after their midweek European trip, that Brighton game might prove to be heavy on the legs.
