Gabriel Jesus reveals if Arsenal really have what it takes to win the Premier League after Brentford win

Gabriel Jesus would have been over the moon after starring for Arsenal once again as they beat Brentford 3-1 in what was an important victory for them.

All eyes were on Arsenal to see how they would respond after Liverpool demolished West Ham United 5-0 while Chelsea succumbed to a shock 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli meant the Gunners showcased their title credentials against Thomas Frank’s side in side, rendering Bryan Mbuemo’s opener as a futile goal at the end of the day.

After Mark Flekken saved Thomas Partey’s long-range strike, he spilled the ball into Jesus’ path, who capitalised on his error by scoring a header from close quarters.

Gabriel Martinelli’s insight about Bukayo Saka’s injury is that Arsenal’s attacking players are happy to take the onus to step up to the mantle as he watches his boyhood club from the sidelines.

Jesus certainly seems to be one of them, who was asked during his post-match interview with TNT Sports whether he reckons Arsenal have what it takes to win the Premier League title this season.

Gabriel Jesus feels Arsenal are ready to win the Premier League after 3-1 win over Brentford

The Brazilian international has four league titles to his name from his time at Manchester City and he knows what it takes to witness a team get over the line.

Gary Neville backs Arsenal to win the league despite how dominant Liverpool have been all season, which is a claim that holds weight, considering the Manchester United legend won eight titles.

Jesus feels Arsenal are ready to win the league title after his side beat Brentford, saying: “Yeah, for sure, the previous two years were amazing, obviously, we didn’t win the league. But we were there fighting and then to play this competition is very hard, imagine, to fight for the title.”

“Like you said, I have been there [being a four-time Premier League winner] but like I can see, this team is now, everyone is a good player, an amazing player and then I’m sure we can go there and fight for the title but it’s still early, we need to keep trying to play well and win games, that’s it.”

Jesus is yet to lose a league game where he has not scored in his career, extending his incredible run to 92 games after Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Brentford.

How many points did Arsenal have at the same stage last season?

If the versatile forward keeps scoring, Arsenal might well go the distance.

Interestingly, after 19 league games last season, the Gunners had 41 points while this campaign, they have two lesser in 39.

Liverpool, who have 45 points after having played 18 games had 40 in the previous season after 19.

While the roles have been reversed this season, the title fight is far from over and both Arsenal and Liverpool will be aware of that.
