Fabrizio Romano shares what he knows about Liverpool and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite

In one of the most surprising transfer stories of the summer, Liverpool are being tentatively linked with Jarrad Branthwaite.

Liverpool are apparently fans of the Everton defender, but, as you can imagine, this deal is complicated.

Historically, Liverpool and Everton don’t do business with one another, so this rumour has taken many by surprise.

Speaking on The United Stand, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing these Branthwaite to Liverpool rumours.

According to the journalist, there is nothing concrete between Liverpool and Branthwaite, claiming that he now wouldn’t be surprised if the defender stayed at Everton for another season.

Romano shared an update on the defender.

“I don’t think Manchester United will sign another centre-back, because with Branthwaite the message of Everton is that it has to be a fee similar to all of the other big centre-backs on the market in recent years,” Romano said.

“I don’t think it’s going to happen, and for Liverpool at the moment I’m not aware of anything concrete, I think there is a good possibility for the player to stay at Everton one more season and then maybe move next summer. Everton are insisting that anyone who wants to sign the player has to pay something around £70m for Branthwaite, so it is going to be very difficult.”

Jarrad Branthwaite to Liverpool is unlikely

Romano says there’s nothing concrete on Branthwaite to Liverpool, and, in all honesty, this deal never looked likely.

Everton have done their best to keep hold of Branthwaite all summer, it’s unlikely they were ever going to buckle at the last minute and sell to their biggest rivals.

Branthwaite will eventually get a big move away from Everton – he’s that good, but it’s very unlikely that we’ll ever see him cross the Merseyside divide and join Liverpool.

This move isn’t likely this summer, and it’s probably not going to happen next year either.
