Fabrizio Romano shares update on what is really happening between Tottenham and Federico Chiesa

Fabrizio Romano has now provided a definitive update on reports linking Tottenham Hotspur with a move for Federico Chiesa this summer.

Chiesa plans to leave Juventus next month, not interested in signing a new contract with the club.

And understandably so, Juve are also not interested in losing the Italian for free in a year’s time.

Tottenham are said to be in pole position to sign Chiesa via some reports, a player who would definitely improve Ange Postecoglou’s prospects next term.

Chiesa has the necessary star quality and is also the sort of versatile profile that Postecoglou loves to work with, a forward who can play a variety of roles.

That being said, Chiesa is yet to play outside of the Serie A, having signed for Juventus from boyhood club Fiorentina.

But judging by which he just shared on X, it doesn’t look like Chiesa will be coming to England any time soon, at least not to north London.

No contacts have taken place between Tottenham and Juventus for Federico Chiesa

Romano shared a definitive update on X saying that Spurs will sign one more forward-minded player before the window ends in August.

However, the journalist’s update suggested that it’s unlikely to be Chiesa as things stand.

Romano shared: “No contacts taking place between Tottenham and Juventus for Federico Chiesa.

“Spurs will sign one more player upfront but no talks or negotiations are taking place for Chiesa.”

Of course, that will be a blow to some Tottenham fans who are desperate to see the club strengthen their eleven right now.

Spurs are doing a superb job offloading their unwanted talent this summer – TBR Football recently shared that Tottenham have agreed a deal with AC Milan for Emerson Royal.

But ultimately Postecoglou hasn’t really seen his eleven improve this summer, even if Archie Gray can contribute positively.

Tottenham have made some excellent signings for the future, the likes of Lucas Bergvall and Yang Min-hyeok, but they haven’t necessarily matched Postecoglou’s ambitions for the here and now.
