Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal will try to agree a deal to sign £50m Andrea Berta target in the next few days

With Arsenal reaching the Champions League semi-final and now being one of the favourites to go all the way, players across Europe will be enticed by the prospect of playing their football at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners’ 5-1 thrashing of Real Madrid over two legs in the quarter-final would have made life easier for sporting director Andrea Berta to pitch the upward trajectory of the club’s project to potential targets.

With Arsenal looking likely to finish second in the Premier League three seasons in a row, a few weeks ago, there may have been been doubts about their status as potential winners — a notion that has been debunked by their heroics in the Champions League.

One player who is being chased by the North Londoners as well as elite clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea is Dean Huijsen — who could take all the aforementioned sides to the next level.

Andrea Berta loves Huijsen and so does Mikel Arteta as they hope to bring him to Arsenal.

Arsenal will try to strike Dean Huijsen deal in a few days

Huijsen has been tipped for superstardom and what would certainly attract Arsenal is the idea of adding him to their roster of world-class centre-backs such as William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

But Arsenal may have feared their chances of landing Huijsen, who fancies a move to Spain.

Fabrizio Romano has now told GiveMeSport’s Market Madness podcast that with Real Madrid unsure about signing a new centre-back this summer, Arsenal amongst other Premier League clubs will try to strike an agreement to sign the Spaniard in the next few days: “Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, these three clubs are very interested. I think he’s going to stay in the Premier League because there is genuine interest from Real Madrid and the player would be really attracted by Real Madrid as a Spanish player, of course but at the same time, I’m hearing that internally at Real Madrid, they’ve still not whether they want to sign a centre-back or not in the summer, how much they want to spend, they have Raul Asencio at the club who is doing very well.”

“So, that is why Real Madrid are not convinced, not about Huijsen but bout signing a new centre-back in the summer. And this is why the timing is helping the English clubs. So, Liverpool will be there, Arsenal will be there, Chelsea will there, there is a release, £50 million, so the negotiation is on player’s side basically and I’m sure these clubs will push and push again in the next days, weeks to try and reach an agreement with Dean Huijsen and their camp.”

What Dean Huijsen quickly wants to do about his future

Bournemouth have shortlisted replacements for Huijsen such as Cristhian Mosquera, Jorge Herrando, Oumar Solet and Montassar Talbi in case their star man leaves the Vitality Stadium.

Considering Fabrizio Romano has tipped the former Juventus defender to stay in the Premier League as well, surely Mikel Arteta’s side are now one of the favourites to sign him.

Interestingly, David Ornstein recently revealed that Huijsen intends to leave Bournemouth quickly and the Cherries are keen on finalising his exit as soon as possible — with the player’s representatives having met clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham.

“We’ll begin with Dean Huijsen, there’s a £50m release clause in his contract.”

“He’s the subject of huge interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham, they’ve all been meeting with his representatives in recent weeks.”

Ornstein added: “The player and Bournemouth want this done and dusted relatively quickly, he’s expected to be a departure.”
