Exclusive: Everton decide they want world-record breaking fee for their ‘incredible’ player this summer
Everton might be under pressure to sell this summer but they’ve now decided one player will only leave for a world-record fee.
The Toffees survived with ease last season despite points deductions and now face a big summer in terms of incomings and outgoings.
It is common knowledge that Everton need to sell one big name for big money if they can.

The Toffees have a number of players who tick the boxes in that regard, with the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, Jordan Pickford and Amadou Onana all players who could be sold.
But when it comes to one of those players, defender Branthwaite, Everton have decided it’s going to take a world-record sum for a defender to sell.

Everton want world-record transfer fee to consider selling Jarrad Branthwaite
TBR Football understands that Everton want Jarrad Branthwaite to become the most expensive English defender of all time when he does leave Goodison Park.
Toffees sources have confirmed to TBR that suggestions they would sell him in a cut-price deal are ‘wide of the mark’ and that they view him as one of the best young defenders in world football.
Harry Maguire is currently the most expensive English defender in history following his move to Man United in 2019 for £80million.
Everton may need to sell a big name this summer, but they won’t be forced to sell at below market value and it is understood Amadou Onana is more likely to move on at this stage.
However, if one of the ‘‘ Branthwaite’s suitors, of which there are many including Manchester United, offered more than £80million – they would look at the deal.
Who are the most expensive defenders ever?
As mentioned above, Man United star Maguire remains the top man after the Red Devils paid £80m for his services.
However, there are a number of other defenders who have commanded huge sums as well.
Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt both cost north of £70m, while Chelsea also forked out £70m to sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester.
Manchester City ace Ruben Dias also cost more than £60m.
In a nutshell, then, looking at those names, there is good reason why clubs go and spend big on central defenders.
Branthwaite, it seems, is the latest in a long line of young British players who will go for big money.
