Player reportedly wanted by Everton breaks silence over his future, deemed better than Paul Pogba
A player reportedly sought after by Everton head coach Carlo Ancelotti and previously deemed better than Paul Pogba has spoken out about his future.
According to Italian outlet , the Toffees boss is a big admirer of Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto and was considering making a move to bring him to Goodison Park.
Alberto was previously on the books of Everton’s Merseyside rivals Liverpool, with then Reds boss Brendan Rodgers signing the Spaniard from Sevilla in 2013.
The 27-year-old’s spell at Anfield was nothing to write home about, making just 12 appearances, having been loaned out twice, before being offloaded to Lazio for around £4million () less than four years ago.

However, Alberto has firmly put his fruitless time at Liverpool behind him to become a fan favourite at the Rome club, claiming an impressive .
Amid reports linking him with a return to Merseyside, Alberto has now chosen to commit his future to Lazio.
He wrote on Instagram, “We’re negotiating and I believe I’ll renew until 2025. This is my best year of my career, I love this team and we’re formidable.”

Alberto has developed into a superb player over the past few years, to the point that his transfer value is reported to be around £43million ().
With 13 assists and four goals in just 25 Serie A appearances this season, helping Lazio sit just one point behind leaders Juventus, it’s little surprise to see him linked with other clubs.
Indeed, legendary Italian manager Marcelo Lippi was asked by who he’d pick out of Manchester United’s Pogba and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – but he went for neither, saying: “I would choose Luis Alberto, he has great quality.”
Sadly for Everton, the player has chosen to stick rather than twist, and surely it’s a matter of time before an official communication is put out by Lazio which confirms he’s put pen to paper in the Italian capital for several more years.
