Everton fans react to Phil Jagielka’s most recent performance

💯Sheffield United drew with Manchester United in a 3-3 thriller last night and will be disappointed to have thrown away a 2-0 lead.

ﷺThe Red Devils turned things around in a hectic second-half spell when youngsters Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford scored to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side a 3-2 lead. Oli McBurnie’s late strike secured a draw, despite a VAR appeal for handball.

🃏For some Everton fans, the match was uncomfortable viewing due to the performance of one Sheffield United player.

🍸Phil Jagielka put in a superb performance that belied his 37-year-old status at the heart of the Blades defence.

🌳This summer, Everton let Jagielka leave the club after 12 years of service. The veteran was playing fewer and fewer games at Goodison Park and the Toffees decided not to renew his contract at the end of the season.

ꦜHis career at Everton ended in confusion, with no confirmation of his impending exit when he made his final appearance for the club. As Jagielka put it in an it ‘wasn’t ideal’.

🧔He returned to his boyhood club and the 40-cap England international is now proving a vital asset for manager Chris Wilder.

𒁃Everton, meanwhile, are struggling. The club are failing defensively, lack clear leadership and manager Silva is clearly on the rocks.

꧅How they could do with an experienced head like Jagielka right now. Indeed, after the performance he put in against United yesterday, plenty of Everton fans are wondering why he was allowed to leave.
