EFL Championship side have contacted Celtic over signing £16k-per-week player this month

As well as incomings, Celtic also have a lot of work to do in the January transfer window to get players who are not part of the plans or not contributing moved on.

TBR Celtic have spoken on numerous occasions about how Celtic could save £35k per week on players’ wages who are not playing or ma🐬king any c🌃ontribution to results this season.

That figure did not include David Turnbull who earns a reported £16k per week. To be fair to the 24-year-old, although used spari𝔉ngly, he has scorᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚed seven goals so far for Celtic this season.

However, his minutes have dried up and despite no movement being made to offer him a new deal, it seems he is another player who is surplus to requirements under Brendan Rodgers.

Cardiff City want Celtic’s David Turnbull

The Celtic manager clearly doesn’t fancy him and with his £16k per week contract up at tﷺhe end of the season, he now looks to be on his way out of Glasgow.

Sky Sports reporter, Anthony Joseph, posted on this morning and said that Cardiff City are looking at the Scotland international൲.

Joseph said, “Cardiff City are keen on Celtic midfielder Daviꦑd Tౠurnbull.

“Sky Sports News unders💎tands initial contact ha♌s been made.”

Turnbull is a very talented footballer. There is no question about that. However, questions have always been raised about the 24-year-old’s fitness levels.

That was evident against Ross County this weekeಞnd when it looked like Turnbull struggled to keep up with the pace of the game after 🔯coming on as a second-half substitute.

Signed by Neil Lennon back in 2020 for £3.25m, Turnbull enjoyed a brilliant debut season after being voted Celtic’s Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season despite ending the season trophyless. And recently he has seemed unhappy at the club

There is definitely some real inte🥂rest here in Turnbull from Cardiff as journalist, Stephen McGowan, has also recently, “Cardiff also looking at Celtic’s David Turnbull.”

So it seems it’s just a matter of when and not if the 24-y♌ear-old midfielder makes his Parkhe🃏ad exit.
