Eddie Howe says Newcastle have an ‘incredible technician’ that will be ‘very important’ to his reign

🎶Eddie Howe has told his pre-match press conference – – that the “incredible” Jonjo Shelvey will be important to his Newcastle reign.

🅷Shelvey, 29, has returned from a calf injury recently – starting just his second league game of the season during the 1-1 draw with Brighton.

♕The £12million () signing joined Newcastle in january 2016. The England international has clocked up 176 appearances for The Toon.

꧟Having a hand in 40 goals, Shelvey is now one of the senior members at Newcastle. He does have his critics, but Howe clearly sees Shelvey as vital.

ꦐSpeaking to reporters on Friday morning ahead of this weekend’s clash against Brentford, Howe raved about Shelvey – saying he will be key.

💧“I knew how good he was having played against him. But then when you work with him you realise he’s an incredible technician.

🍃“He can play all sorts of passes, long & short. In terms of our philosophy he’s someone who’ll be very important to us.” Shelvey said, .

Howe on Shelvey: Newcastle star could be revitalised under Howe

🌼Under Steve Bruce and Rafa Benitez, Newcastle rarely had more than 35% possesion in a Premier League match. The defensive system stifled Shelvey.

🐟But with Howe in charge, Newcastle will have more possession. They will look to attack more and that suits ex-Liverpool and Swansea star Shelvey.

🌜Shelvey likes to have his attacking players in front of him, and pick passes out with the Toon on the ball – dictating possession and play.

🔴The last time Newcastle did that, was in the Championship under Benitez. In that season, Shelvey had a hand in 17 goals – scoring five and creating 12.

Under Howe, Shelvey will be reinvigorated.
