Eddie Howe really likes 17-goal striker who would only cost Newcastle as much as Matt Targett

A report has shared the stance Eddie Howe has on Serhou Guirassy with Newcastle United now interested in signing the Stuttgart striker in this window.

Serhou Guirassy is having an un💝believable season in the Bundesliga. The 27-year-old has scored 17 top-flight goals to leave him only behind Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe across Europe’s biggest leagues so far this term.

But 🐬while teams can probably expect to pay huge sums in one way or another to land a Kane or Mbappe, Guirassy appears to be available for a🌊 bargain fee.

Both Tottenham and Manchester United want Guirassy. But The Tim𝐆es suggests that Newcastle are also keen. And crucially, the report notes that Eddie Howe is an admirer of the Guinea international.

No-brainer for Newcastle

Signing Guirassy makes a lot of sense for Newcast🦩le. As noted in the report, the Magpies have to keep FFP in mind when maki𝕴ng moves in this window. And thus, they are looking predominantly at loan deals.

But Guirassy would cost exactly the same as Matt Targett ꦐdid ℱ(via ). So it would have the potential to be a real coup to bring him to Tyneside.

Newcastle desperately need further reinforcements after a really difficult few weeks. The Magpies have lost seven of their last eight games﷽ in all competitions.

Guirassy is ꧑a lethal goalscorer, particularly this season. So he could definitely provide competition for Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, who have both dealt with injury problems at times.

So it would be a real statement of intent if Newcas🐼tle could now bring Guirassy to Tyneside ahead of the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United. It would certain🌳ly give supporters something to smile about after a testing couple of months.
