Diogo Jota says he really misses playing with ‘outstanding’ defender Liverpool released
Diogo Jota has been lucky enough to play with some truly incredible players over the years for Liverpool.
From Mohamed Salah to Roberto Firmino, Jota has played with the best of the best💧 during his time at Anfield.
Speaking to ESPN, Jota has now been discussing who his favourite teammate at Liverpool over the years hasꦆ been, and he gave an interesting a♏nswer.
Indeed, Jota namechecked three players, and one was ♕rather unexpected to say the least.
Jota, inevitably, picked Ale🍒xis Mac Allister and Tre𝔉nt Alexander-Arnold as two of his favourite teammates due to their creative abilities.
Meanwhile, Jota also named Joel Matip as someone he loved playing with, despite t🌸he fact he was a centre-back.

Diogo Jota loved playing with Joel Matip
Jota spoke about his time playing alongside Mat🍸ip.
The striker says that Matip w🍬as an outstanding player who he really misses playing alongside.
Matip left Liverpool on a free transfer at the end of last season, and while West Ham considered signing Matip, he has since retired from football.
“Which teammatℱe do you enjoy playing with the m🎶ost?” Jota was asked.
“I needs to be someone who gives me assists. Trent, Macca. I used to ꦦlove playing with Matip, Joel. The way he defended, the way he takes the ball forward, he gave me a couple of assists as well. He was an outstanding player for me,” Jota said.

Matip was an ‘amazing’ player at Liverpool, and Jota had a 💎stellar record when playing alongside the Cameroon international.

Jota won the✅ vast majority of his games when playing alongside Matip, and the centre-back eve⛎n gave Jota an assist one time.
Indeed, Matip set Jota up for his sec𓃲ond goal against Leices🍸ter Cityat Anfield in 2022, with what was a gorgeous pass.
Matip, for some reason, found himself free on the edge of the box, and in an incredibly composed an👍d skilful manner, he used the outside of his boot to feed Jota w🐭ho duly obliged with the finish.
As Jota says, Matip was an outstanding player for Liverpool, and the Reds are yet to truly replace the centre-back as they havenꩲ’t signed a new defender since his depature.
Liverpool were working on sigꦉning a new centre-back last summer, so perཧhaps that’s something the Reds will revisit in the near future.
