Didier Drogba says striker Chelsea signed for £15m was just as fast as Arjen Robben

Chelsea have had some truly rapid players over the years.

During their golden era of the late 2000s and early 2010s, Chelsea had some lightning quick players.

The likes of Fernando Torres, Ashley Cole and even Damien Duff were all incredibly quick during their time at Stamford Bridge.

However, speaking to Goal on , Didier Drogba has named two other players as the fastest he ever played with at Chelsea

Indeed, the Ivorian was asked to build his perfect Chelsea player made up of a number of different attributes, and for pace, he said that Nicolas Anelka and Arjen Robben were the two fastest player he played with at Chelsea.

Nicolas Anelka and Arjen Robben were Didier Drogba’s fastest teammates

Drogba built his perfect player.

“Right foot?” Drogba was asked.

“Anelka,” Drogba said.

“Left foot?”

“Malouda,” Drogba said.

“Strength?”

“Alex,” Drogba said.

“Speed?”

“Anelka or Robben,” Drogba said.

Rapid

Drogba is right to pick these two out because they were absolutely rapid.

Robben wasn’t at Chelsea for very long but he made a serious impact in the Premier League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Anelka probably hit his peak at Chelsea, but the scary thing is that he had slowed down a bit by that point.

Indeed, Anelka was nearing the age of 30 when he made his move to Stamford Bridge from Bolton, and while that was when he was his most refined, he certainly wasn’t his quickest.

He had bulked up a lot since his Arsenal days by that point, and while he was still absolutely rapid, during his youth in north London, he was genuinely one of the quickest players the Premier League had ever seen.

Drogba played with some amazingly quick players at Chelsea, but these two stand out above the rest.
