David Ornstein drops major Amadou Onana update amid Aston Villa, Arsenal and Tottenham links

Aston Villa, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are just a few of the clubs that have been heavily linked with Amadou Onana in recent months.

The Villans have been busy in the summer transfer window, making six signings thus far as they look to strengthen ahead of their Champions League return.

Meanwhile, the Gunners challenged for the Premier League title for the second consecutive season last term and will want to go all the way next year.

As for Spurs, they look like they’ll go far under Ange Postecoglou, and there’s scope to strengthen the squad further in pursuit of a top-four finish.

All three clubs are said to be in pursuit of Onana, one of the best midfielders currently outside of the Premier League’s top six.

Now, according to David Ornstein, it looks as though the 22-year-old will soon be making the switch to a club at the top end of the league.

Amadou Onana set for Aston Villa ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham

The Athletic journalist, taking to X, said Villa are in the process of finalising an agreement with Everton over Onana, ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham.

A deal worth around £50million is said to be in place, while personal terms have also been agreed on a long-term contract.

Unai Emery is keen to bring Onana to Villa, while the player himself is eager to play for the Spaniard and for the Villans, added Ornstein.

Villa set to triumph in Onana saga

Onana is an outstanding player who has proven his quality at the highest level and, at just 22 years of age, is nowhere near his prime and should become even better.

Now, it looks like this transfer saga has reached the home straight, and Villa look set to win the race amid strong competition.

Credit to Villa and Emery for how well they’ve done over the past few years, both on the pitch and in the transfer market.

If all goes well, they will be signing one of the Premier League’s best midfielders ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.
