Darren Bent says Willian would suit Tottenham more than Arsenal

Darren Bent has told TalkS𓂃PORT (Wednesday, 8:10am) that he believes soon-to-be free agent Willian is better suited to Tottenham over Arsenal, after the Brazilian’s contract at Chelsea is set to expire.

Willian, who turns 32 in August, has been in excellent form for Chelsea this season – having a hand in 20 goals during his 47 league and cup appearances. He has scored 11 goals, 🌼and created nine more.

that Willian could remain at Chelsea and sign a new contract, but he remains a target for the Gunners who have been tracking the Brazil 🍸international ever since his contract situation became apparent.

Talks with Chelsea remain deadlocked with Willian wanting a three-year deal, while Chelsea are only will🍎ing to offer two years. Bent – a former Tottenham player but Arsenal fan – thinks Willian would suit Spurs better.

“At Arsenal, they have Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nketiah, Pepꦬe, Saka, Martinelli,” Bent said. “He would be a good signing but a three-year contract at 31? He would stunt the growth of a Martinelli.

“He might not actually fit Arsenal – he wouldn’t get the same game time. He’d suit Tottenham. Willian, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, that looks great. Steven Bergwijn and 🎐Lucas Moura have been used there, but it hasn’t quite worked. He’d fit right in there.”

TBR’s view – Bent has it bang on, Tottenham need a Willian

Though harsh on Bergwijn, Bent is right about Moura while Erik Lamela and Ryan Sessegnon have struggled during the course of the 🅰past season. Spurs need an experienced attacker such as Willian.

If Spurs can boast say, Son, Willian, Bergwijn and Moura as options out wide, then surely they have all the tools in attack necessary to break back into the top four. On a free, Willi𓂃an is a no-brainer for Spurs.
