Daniel Sturridge has named three Manchester United players who really impressed him during their draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag’s side proved a point with their battling display against the Reds. Man🔯y of us expected Jurgen Klopp’s team to blow United away.
Raphael Varane has been out of favour in recent times. And with Jonny Evans lining up alongside him at centre-back, Liverpool fans must have been optimistic – particularly with Andre Onana struggling.

So it would have been a real boost for ten Hag’s men to keep a clean sheet.♓ And speaking on (broadcast on 17/12; 18:41), Daniel Sturri♒dge suggested that the two centre-backs, along with Kobbie Mainoo, could be particularly happy with their displays in the stalemate.
“They came ♛into this game today and I think everybody expected them to lose the game. And they’ve put a performance together where they’ve managed to defend very well. I think Varane’s come in along w🍬ith Jonny Evans and they’ve been very good today. Mainoo played well. I think overall they’d have been happy with a point,” he said.
Plenty of work ahead for Erik ten Hag, but better signs
It did not need to be pretty for United on Sund🧜ay. If they were going to win the game, it was going to happen because they soaked up a lot of pressure and took one of the rare chances they made at the other end of the🥃 pitch.
Certainly, the likes of Varane, Evans ღand Mainoo did their jobs.
As shown by , Varane made 15 clearances during the game. That was three times ܫmore than the entire Liverpool team put together. Meanwhile, Evans managed five.
Of course, this result will not alleviate all of Manchester United’s concerns. They𒈔 have had such a disappointing campaign. And ultimately, this will not lift much of the gloom.
But United can take some posiไtives 𒁃from the result and the way they battled to nullify Liverpool.
And the lik꧟es of Varane, Evans and Mainoo ensured that there was nothing like the humiliation that some of the Manchester United fans 💜must have feared before kick-off.
