Crystal Palace defender says £45m Arsenal man is the toughest player he’s ever faced
The Premier League is chocked full of world-class attacking talent at the moment.
Mohamed Salah is in Ballon d’Or winning form, Alexander Isak is arguably a £200m player, while Erling Haaland is a real goalscoring machine.
However, according to Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix, the most difficult attacker to face in the Premier League is another striker.
Indeed, speaking to Hawksbee and Jacobs Daily, Lacroix claimed that the most difficult player he has played against in his career is actually Gabriel Jesus.
According to Lacroix, Jesus is very difficult to face, claiming that the attacker’s movement is absolutely brilliant.

Gabriel Jesus is Maxence Lacroix’s toughest opponent
Lacroix spoke about the most difficult player he’s ever faced.
According to the centre-back, Jesus is very difficult to face, claiming that he likes to play against a striker like Erling Haaland rather than someone like Jesus who is much more mobile and difficult to mark.
The most difficult player I played against, this is what you asked me. Yeah. I would say Gabriel Jesus, he scored a lot against us. It was difficult because he has good movement. I think for a defender like me, I like to play against Haaland, these players, because they are strong. We know it’s going to be a fight, but you don’t really like when players run, run, run, run. Gabriel Jesus, he makes good runs,” Lacroix said
Gabriel Jesus record vs Maxence Lacroix
Lacroix says that Jesus is his toughest opponent, and it’s not hard to figure out why.
Indeed, the Brazilian has certainly been a pain in the neck for the Frenchman this season.
Jesus has played twice against Lacroix in his career, and to say that he has turned up in those games would be an understatement.
Games | Goals | Assists | |
---|---|---|---|
Gabriel Jesus record vs Maxence Lacroix | 2 | 5 | 0 |
For some reason, the man appears to have Lacroix’s number.
Jesus is out injured for the season, so Lacroix will be spared having to face off against the striker again this term.
Jesus has been criticised at times this season for his poor performances at times, but he has saved his best performances for Crystal Palace and Lacroix.
Lacroix has been a decent signing for Palace and a good replacement for Joachin Andersen, but he seemingly doesn’t quite know how to deal with Jesus.
