Craig Hope shares Newcastle’s centre-back plans as Marc Guehi deal with Crystal Palace seems to be off
Newcastle United managed to scrape through against Nottingham Forest last night in the Carabao Cup, in what was another nervy performance at times.
Eddie Howe welcomed Sandro Tonali back to proceedings for Newcastle yesterday, and he put in an inspired display.
After🐓 a rather disappointing start to the season as far as performances go, to see Tonali back and playing well will offer Newcastle fans some hope.
The Magpies have been looking to strengthen with Howe exciteওd about the prospect of signiꦬng Marc Guehi before the window ends.
However, it now looks as if a potential deal for the Crystal P♛alace centre-back could be off, as Craig Hope prꦗovided an update…

Craig Hope shares Newcastle’s centre-back plans as Marc Guehi deal looks to be off
Craig Hope quoted a tweet from Sami Mokbel that states that Newcastle United’s move for Marc Guehi is currently on the ropes.
Writing on ♑his personal Twitt𒐪er account, he stated.
To go from Newcastle looking 🌞like they’re close to sealing a deal for Guehi to now potentially missing out on him just sums up how things haveꦇ gone recently.
Of course, it’s not completely over but it doesn’t look good at this stage.ℱ
Do Newcastle have enough options?
The likes of Lloyd Kelly, Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman and Fabian Schar make up the Magpies’ recognised cent෴re-back options at this moment in time, though Dan Bur🐠n can play there too.
Schar ha💟s already picked up an injury this season and Lascelles has been nursing a long-term injury, so it’s not like Howe 🎀has the best of options right now.
Of course, the fact that t🦹he Magpies don’t have any European action to worry about makes things less challenging, but they’re currently one or two injuries away from being in 😼a crisis.
Not moving for a🍸nother centre-back if Guehi isn’t available just doesn’t make sense.
Trevoh Chalobah is available and has had intere💞st from Newcastle, so there are options out there.
