‘Cracking player’, ‘love to see it’: Some fans react as former Sunderland ace joins new club
Duncan Watmore has found a newಌ club following his departure from Sunderland in the summer.
The 26-year-old left the Black Cats after seven years at the Stad🔯ium of Light, much of that time𝔍 sadly plagued by injuries.
Watmore was considered one of the b📖rightest you💫ng talents in England at one point, featuring regularly for Sam Allardyce’s side in the Premier League.

However, two serious knee injuries set the former England Under-21 forward back massively, and in ♍his absence, Sunderland dropped from the top flight to the third tier.
While Watmore didn’t have many injury problems last season, he nonetheless struggled to find form and hold down a regular place in Phil ꦗParkinson’s side.
And with🍰 his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, his release wasn’t a huge surprise, particularly as he was on🧔e of Sunderland’s highest earners.
Watmore is staying put in the North East, with Championship side Middlesbrough until January after a🦋 successful trial period.
Boro boss Neil Warnock was delighted to make the player a formal additio𝓀n to his first team squad.
“I’m ever so pleased we’ve been able to get hꦍim on board,” he told the club . “He’s done very well in training and he’s a smashing lad.
“He fits in really well in the dressing and I’m hoping that he can give us a bit of ♕something different.
“It’s only a short-term contract and it’s up to him to show us that he deserv💙es a longer one.”
Boro fans and Sunderland fans alike welcomed his move to Teesside on social media:
