Coventry fans impressed by performance of Wolves loanee Ryan Giles
Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Ryan Giles impressed on Wednesday night with his performance in the Championship – and some Coventry City fans on Twitter were in awe of his individual performance.
Giles is a left-sided flyer that joined Coventry on a season-long loan in the summer, after also spending the second half of the previous campaign with the Sky Blues during their promotion from League One.
The 20-year-old played the full game on Wednesday as Coventry secured a crucial 1-0 home win over Cardiff City, which is a result that lifts them three points clear of the relegation zone in the Championship table.

Giles is a player that has mainly been used in a wing-back position at Coventry and it’s a system that Wolves have mastered so well under their manager Nuno Espirito Santo, meaning it’s important that any players aspiring to break into the senior side can fill a role in it.
But the English youngster was used further forward in a more advanced winger role and he’s received plenty of praise on social media for his midweek display.
He’s become a nailed-on starter in the Coventry XI this campaign and is earning vital first-team minutes in the Championship to help his development.
Here are some Coventry fans discussing Giles:
Think that’s a very positive half
Very good defensively and had a few sparks going forward with Giles looking lively
Set pieces at both ends will be key but definitely a winnable game— Hariss Khan (@HarissK_1409)
Not a bad half, Giles looks better now he’s on the left maybe take Shipley off for O’Hare in the 2nd half

What did I say play Giles higher up and watch him thrive . Now he’s playing like a winger man of the match easily . He’s just not a left back is he but a winger who can support the left back when he’s out of position works well with McCallum .

Deffo prefering Giles further forward. He’s doin well. Keep the mistakes down to a minimum. We’ve got a chance to win this. Just need that bit of quality in front of goal. Come on.

I’ll make a statement now. Ryan Giles is the best player in our side by a mile. Different gear

Kelly absolutely bossing it again, liking Giles further forward, looks like he could put one in from outside of the box 100%. Just need to make few more clear cut chances and we can comfortably win this. Cardiff are nothing special

Great three points, tactics worked well. Liked Giles further forward. Shipley and Hamer put some shift in. Defence excellent in particular McFazden who has taken some stick. Oh and what a finish from Walker. Mid table here we come
