The speculation has grown heavier in recent days, with respected journalist Fabrizio Romano that the Gunners are now in talks with his representatives.

It remains to be seen if a deal will get done, but Willian has previously made no secret of the fact that he likes London which could prove to have significance.

Arsenal would be getting a player with seven years of experience in the Premier League, but there is also another potentially big benefit to snapping up the South American.

TBR’s View – Martinelli mentor

Willian – reported () to be on around £120,000-a-week at Chelsea – has been a success in England since his arrival from Anzhi Makhachkala and he is undoubtedly in a great position to pass on his pearls of wisdom in the Arsenal dressing room.

One man who could really benefit from any arrival of Willian is Gabriel Martinelli, who wowed in his debut season at the Emirates Stadium.

Having another Brazilian in the dressing room, one that’s won plenty of trophies and made a name for himself, could really do wonders for Martinelli’s footballing education.

The £6 million signing () is a massive talent, and to have a fellow winger like Willian acting as a mentor could help him realise his sky-high potential.
