Cody Gakpo names the ‘unbelievable’ player he thinks is the most underrated talent at Liverpool

Liverpool are arguably the best team in the world right now, but, somehow, some of their players still remain underrated.

Indeed, many of Liverpool’s star players have been described as underrated in recent times.

Alexis Mac Allister is an underrated player, while Diogo Jota has also been described as underrated.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah is a Ballon d’Or contender, but, in the eyes of some, Salah is still underappreciated.

Speaking to JD Football, Cody Gakpo was asked to name who he believes is the most underrated player at Liverpool, and he gave an interesting answer.

Indeed, according to Gakpo, the most underrated player in the Reds’ squad is actually Curtis Jones.

“Liverpool’s most underrated player?”

“Curtis Jones. I think he’s an unbelievable player, calm on the ball, can dictate the game as well. Can dribble, can finish, can get good passes, he’s very strong on the ball. He never loses it, very reliable player in the midfield and I like to play with him, a very underrated player in my opinion.”

What Curtis Jones has said about Cody Gakpo

Gakpo hailed Jones as an underrated player, and it would appear that Jones and Gakpo really do get on as teammates.

Indeed, these two have become really good friends at Liverpool.

Jones said last year that Gakpo is one of the most popular players at Liverpool after giving him a new nickname.

“I call him Gakkers, that’s the name that needs to stick with him. Cody just came in and everyone loved him when he came in, he’s the most polite lad, but he’s hilarious. There was a time he was going on about my accent, saying Curtis’s accent is strong and I said ‘shut up you Gakkers!’ And it just stuck,” Jones said.

Jones and Gakpo also have a stellar record whenever they play together, losing just eight of 68 outings as a pairing.
