Chris Sutton takes one last swipe at Todd Cantwell with Callum McGregor joke after his Rangers departure

Glasgow Rangers have now seen Todd Cantwell make his departure from Ibrox this summer with a huge game coming up this weekend.

The 2024/25 Scottish Premiership season is about to see the bigge🌱st game in Scotlꦕand unfold on Sunday against Celtic.

A big season awaits Rangers with Philippe Clement looking to take back the Scottish crown and wha✃t a way to make a statement by taking three points on the weekend.

However, there is one player who will not be lining up for the Gers at Celtic Park following Todd Cantwell‘s departure for English Championship side Blackbu♋rn Rovers.

There has been an ongoing battle over the years bཧetween Chris S🉐utton and Cantwell over social media and it looks like the former striker is trying to have the last laugh.

What Chris Sutton said to Todd Cantwell

Having spent around 18 months in Glasgow, Cantwell is now making a return to💜 England where he will be playing the second tier.

Cantwell was able to rack up 64 appearances for the Gers across all competitions where he was able to rack 🤪up 14 goals and 12 assists.

But he will not be adding any further goals or assists to his tally this 𒀰weekend ✨in the Old Firm with his future now back in his homeland.

One man who want🅠ed to aim one last dig at the 26-year-old midfielder was the former Celtic striker, Sutton.

The pair have been going at it for a while now and it seems the pundit wanted to have the last word by saying: “I bet Callum McGregor is breathing a big sigh of relief this even𝓀ing… good luck to Todd he needs to start doing his talking on the pitch. He’s gone to a great club.”

However, part of the joke is on Sutton with his online rival no🦩w making a move♑ to his former club in Blackburn.

A huge Old Firm awaits this weekend

The two top Scottish sides go at it f♏or the first time this season on the weekend with away fans sti♒ll banned from the fixture.

So, the game will be playeꦍd purely in front of the Celtic fans and it is a game which would see the home side pull five points clear with a win.

Alternatively, a win for Clement’s side would take t💞hem a point above their bitter rivals.

Although ther🀅e is plenty of football ahead of these two in the season, this feels like a seriously important three points on the line.
