Championship should be fearful as Leeds grind out win over Bristol City
Leeds United ground out a much-needed 1-0 win over Bristol City yesterday as they took advantage of Fulham and Brentford’s slips.
🍷The Whites had been on a run of worrying form. However, a point at Griffin Park in the week followed by today’s win means they are now sitting three points clear in second.

⛄Much of the talk about the club in the recent weeks has been of a potential collapse like last season. At one point last year, Leeds were some ten points clear of Sheffield United. They did, as we all know, succumb to the pressure and allowed both Norwich and the Blades to win promotion.
♐But yesterday’s showing highlighted something different about Marcelo Bielsa’s team. It’s something that is needed from the Whites if they are to sustain their push.
💙The fight, determination, and work rate to get over the line in blustery conditions should serve them well.
Just what Leeds fans wanted to see
🅰Make no mistake about it, this was a massive win for the Elland Road outfit yesterday.
🧸Bristol City themselves are pushing for the playoffs. It’s not like they have simply beaten a side at the foot of the table with ease. Lee Johnson’s men came to win.

♌However, Bielsa had his side right at it from the off. Yes, the conditions were not ideal but Leeds found a way to win when not being able to be at their fluent best.
🍰On their day and when conditions allow, Leeds are the best footballing team in the Championship. They attack with purpose, intent, and pace, often pressing the opposition into submission.
𓆉Yesterday was not a day for fine flowing football or sublime skill. It was a day to prove your promotion credentials against a good side in difficult conditions.
❀Leeds showed they can grind out wins when necessary. If their so-called ‘blip’ is now over, the rest of the Championship should start to worry about the coming months.
