Would West Brom’s Nacer Chadli fill Gylfi Sigurdsson’s shoes at Swansea City?
After being left out of Swansea’s pre-season tour of America, rumours started circling that Gylfi Sigurdsson’s time in So💮uth Wales could be coming to an end.
The Swans have put a £50 million price tag on the Icelandic midfielder who, last season, was directly involved in almost half of Swansea’s goals, 22 out of 🔥45.
Everton have already had a bid of £40million rejected, but they have proved this transfer window that they are not afraid to splash the cash 🌟made f💜rom the sale of Lukaku.
If the Toffees fork out the money to 🍌bring the midfield talisman to Merseyside, Swansea 🍌will have £50 million and a few weeks to replace him.
Today, the reported that Swansea could renew their interest in West Brom’s Nacꦦer Chadli.
Swansea would have to be prepared to break their transfer record to bring the Belgian international to the Liberty Stadium. However, at £15million, Nace🔥r Chadli would cost just a fraction of what they made from Sigurdsson’s sale.
Playing for the Baggies last season, Chadli scored five goals and assisted a further five, piꩵcking up two bookings in the process, in one of his most successful campaigns to date.
The big question is, 🍰hypothetically, woulꦫd the winger fill the gap left by Sigurdsson’s departure?
The two players have vastly different styles and don’t play in theꩵ same position, however bo🤡th are in their respective sides to contribute goals and assists.
Ove♏r the past three seasons Sigurdsson has not𓃲ched up 27 goals and 25 assists whereas Nacer Chadli could only manage 19 goals and 12 assists in stronger sides.
The 27-year old winger ꦫis undoubtedly a talent, but he alone could not replace Sigurdsson. The Icelander is far too in🐷strumental to Swansea and at times kept them out of the relegation zone single-handedly.
That bei🌞ng said, for less than a third of the price, Chadli wou♔ld be a step in the right direction to replacing Sigurdsson’s goals and assists.
If the Swans could find two other players of a similar caliber for an identical fee then they🍬 should survive without their talisman. They also wouldn’t need to rely solely on one player in Llor꧂ente’s absence.
As things stand, Sigurdsson is still a Swansea player, and when asked if he was staying today, Paul Clement told : “I don’t see it as impossible.”
