Celtic should make move to sign 26-year-old winger who could seriously help Kyogo Furuhashi
There are many things that Brendan Rodgers needs to consider in this January transfer window for Celtic.
How does he hold onto his best players? Can he find a suitable replacement for the injured Greg Taylor? And can he get some players out the door who are not contribu﷽ting or have no long-term future ꦫat the club?
I suppose that’s one of the main reasons he is Celtic’s highest-paid manager in their history. But the main thing for me that Rodgers needs to sort out is the lack of service to Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Japan internati𝓡onal cut a lonely figure in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Ross County as the Hoops widemen either failed to spot his runs or were accurate enough in their passing to find him.
But there is one player in the SPFL who is outperforming all of Celtic’s wingers in terms of chances created that could help Kyogo find his goalscoring touch.
Celtic should look at Kilmarnock winger Danny Armstrong
Now, before you all start howling at me and telling me he is not good enough, Armstrong has been one of the best-pe🌃rforming winge🏅rs in the SPFL by a distance this season.
He would offer some much-needed competition for Luis Palma and Liel Abada and he has proven that he can create go𝐆als in a Kilmarnock side that is current𒅌ly sitting fourth in the league table.
Armstrong is top of the chances created table at 68 so far this season. That’s nine more than Luis Palma and 14 more than Matt O’Riley.
Out of those chances, Armstrong has created the most big chances at 17. Again, six more than Palma and eleven more thanﷺ O’Riley.

Out of assists, the 26-year-old is just one behind Celtic’s Honduran winger at seven and aheꦐad of O’Riley again who is on six.
Interstingly, Armstrong’s expected assists are again top of the SPFL tree at an average of 6.8 and when you look at Kyogo’s expe♍cted goals (11) which is higher than the league’s top scorer in Lawrence Shankland, you can see how the Killie winger could help the Japanese striker find his goalscoring touch again. And let’s not for﷽get how he helped Kilmarnock defeat Celtic🍰 twice already this season.
Indeed, whether Armstrong could do it in Europe is another question entirely but in terms of getting the title over the line, surely taking a gamble on the Scottish winger (who wouldn’t exactly break the bank) with a £60m Champions League bounty up for grabs is worth it?
