Celtic have got to strike January deal with Tottenham reportedly willing to sell player – TBR View

ওIt was a disappointing summer window for Celtic. The Scottish champions, ahead of a do-or-die season in which 10 in a row was the prize, chose to bring in Greece goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas to replace the loss of Fraser Forster.

💞But Barkas – costing a princely sum in the region of £5million – has since lost his place in the side to Scotland international Scott Bain. Bain, of course, was at fault for two of Sparta Prague’s goals last Thursday and is clearly not the long-term answer.

✅There is still faith in Barkas, but there is less faith in Neil Lennon. Whether the manager stays or goes, the goalkeeping issue needs to be sorted in the January transfer window – and Jose Mourinho may have just handed Celtic the ideal opportunity.

൩ has confirmed that Tottenham will listen to offers for Argentina international Paulo Gazzaniga – after the signing of England veteran Joe Hart pushed the South American to third in the pecking order.

🌜Gazzaniga was signed by Mauricio Pochettino after working under his fellow countryman at Southampton – and has since played 37 times for Spurs, 25 of which came last season after Hugo Lloris dislocated his elbow against Shane Duffy’s Brighton.

♉Celtic need a goalkeeper and one with Champions League experience, the winning mentality of being in one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs for the last three years and even an Argentina cap would make him a top, top signing.

🅠It remains to be seen if Spurs are open to his loan exit, or whether they would rather cash in on his signature. If they are open to a loan, then Celtic have got to take full advantage and solve their goalkeeping crisis with the £20,000-a-week ace ().
