Big players who are out of contract in 2025 including Liverpool and Man City stars
Premier League clubs will always be on the lookout for top talents that they can then look to sign in either the January or the summer transfer windows.
There are many strategies that clubs can follow, from signing young gems with bright futures to snapping up players that are surplus to requirements at other clubs.
Then there’s the free transfer option, with players out of contract in the summer and potentially up for grabs for nothing at the end of the season or for a low fee in January.
And this summer, there is a multitude of top players who could well become free agents and lead to plenty of top clubs circling.
TBR Football looks at some of the elite players whose contracts are set to expire in 2025 as things stand.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
Arguably the biggest free transfer potentially available on the market is Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Liverpool right-back has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, but plenty of clubs could well register an interest in the 26-year-old if he doesn’t pen new terms at Anfield.
Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich)
Back in October, TBR Football revealed that Sane’s representatives were starting to speak to clubs around Europe – putting work in and letting them know he is a free agent.
However, Bayern remain hopeful that Sane, a reported Arsenal and Manchester United target, will sign a new contract in Munich.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Mohamed Salah told reporters after Liverpool’s recent win at Southampton that he is “probably more out than in” and has yet to be offered fresh terms.
Salah is on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain and the Saudi Pro League ahead of the summer window.
Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
Another Bayern star whose contract expires in 2025, Alphonso Davies is likely to be in demand as one of the world’s best full-backs.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with Davies, alongside Real Madrid.

Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)
Bayern are desperately trying to hammer out terms with midfielder Joshua Kimmich before he is free to talk to rival clubs from January.
Man City, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all keen on Kimmich, who has made over 400 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.
Jonathan David (Lille)
Jonathan David has long been a fixture on the transfer rumour mill and 2025 could finally be the year that the Lille and Canada star leaves.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Newcastle and Man United are among the clubs eyeing David.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
Man City lynchpin Kevin De Bruyne told reporters – as per – just a few weeks ago that he didn’t know what the future held for him.
MLS side San Diego FC are keen on De Bruyne, while Saudi Pro League interest could resurface.
Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen)
Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah is hot property after starring under Xabi Alonso in Leverkusen’s historic 2023/24 campaign.
Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea are among the clubs that have held talks over Tah.
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
Virgil van Dijk is one of three Liverpool star players who is out of contract at the end of the season.
However, TBR Football sources claim that contract talks between Liverpool and Van Dijk are heading in the right direction.
