Barry Douglas and Jesse Lingard buzzing over transfer news out of Leeds

Leeds United are up and running in the summer transfer window, having got three new signings over the line over the past fortnight.

The Whites made their first signing of the summer at the start of J🐭uly, landing Jo👍e Rodon on a permanent deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier this week, Leeds brought experienced goalkeeper Alex Cairns back to Elland Road, the 31-year-old having🍎 come through the ranks at the club.

And on Thursday, Leeds signed versatile Bournemouth midfielder Joe 🥃Rothwell♕ on a season-long deal.

Leeds newcomer Joe Rothwell congratulated for Elland Road loan switch

The ♊29-year-old took to Instagram to express his pride at having lin✨ked up with the Elland Road outfit.

“Absolutely over the moon to get this over the line,” he wrote. “Leeds United as a club speaks for itself and﷽ needed no words of persuasion to come here.

“Can’t wait to get started and hopefully ge♍t this club back to where they belong.”

A number of his peers, such as Barry Douꦛglas, Jesse Lingard and fellow Cherries player Jaidon Anthony wished him well.

Douglas posted three heꦅart-eyed emojis, Lingard wrote “good luck my b��ro”, while Anthony posted “enjoy brother”.

Douglas and Rothwell played together at Blackburn Rovers, sharing the🅷 pitch 27 tim𒈔es during the 2020/21 campaign.

Meanwhile, Lingard and Rothwell were teammates at Manchester United’s academy, sharing the pitch six times for the Under-21s i🌟n 2013/14.

Rothwell will hope to repeat Southampton promotion feat at Leeds

Rothwell spent the first half of last season playing for Bournemouth before securing a ꦇloa𒁃n switch to fellow South Coast side Southampton.

Whilst with the Sa💝ints, he made 20 appearances and scored four goals, contributing towards the team securing promotion back to the Premier Leag♓ue at the first attempt.

Rothwell won Southampton’s 2023/24 Goal of the Se🍎ason award after a stunning volley which found the top corner against Huddersfield Town.

That effort strike also won the Championship Goal of the Mon🦂th for February.

Rothwell will be eager to ensure lightnꦚing strikes twice with regards to helping his current loan si✨de achieve promotion.
