Bale tips Rodon to become one of the best defenders in the Premier League for Tottenham

Gareth Bale has waxed lyrical about Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon.

Speaking in an interview, the Real Madrid man claimed the youngster can become one of the best defenders in the Premier League🐲.

Rod💎on joined Spurs from Welsh outfit Swansea City for just £11m in last summer’s transfer window.

He waꦏs building up quite the reputation under former manager Jose Mourinho. However, upon his sacking and Ryan Mason’s arrival, he dropped out of the team.

All in all, the Wales international made 12 appear🍸ances in his debut Premier League season.

However, despite his lack of minutes, he seems to have settled༺ in well at north London. The ace has formed a friendship group called ‘The Welsh Mafia’ with fellow countrymen Bale and Ben Davies.

When talking about Rodꦡon, : “He has come on leaps and bounds this season, made such a progression in his football, he has got better and better and lo𝔍oks like a real strong defender, sharp, and he is looking better and better. He will be one of the top defenders in the Premier League in years to come.”

TBR View: Progression needs to quicken for Rodon

Looking at the vast majority of💝 imports into the Premier Lea💙gue at centre-half there seems to be a trend.

The majority of them are incredibly young and ha✅ve already garnered experience at a top level.

was just 18 when he signed for Arsenal from Saint-Etienne for £27m. Meanwhile, the Gunners completed the signing ♛of 22-year-old after hiꩲs impressive season with Lille.

And Liverpool have agre🍸ed a deal for Ibra🍰hima Konate, 20, from Red Bull Leipzig.

The rate at which defenders progress amongst European leagues seems to be 🔯incredibly quick. It leaves questions over Rodon and whether he’s actually at the level required for Tottenhꦍam

At 23-years-old, Rodon should already be a recognised first🅷-team starter, if you go by other defensive talents.

Spurs’ lack of trust in him at his age may well be a cautious approach to his development. But, with others across Europe progressing at a quicker pace, you wonder if the Lilywhites𒅌 are better served buying another player.

Despite praise from Bale, Rod♛on needs to🏅 quicken up his progress from young talent to regular starter, especially with Tottenham struggling in defence.
