Attacker Tottenham made contact to sign before Mathys Tel scores just 12 minutes into debut for new club
Tottenham managed to bolster their attack with just hours remaining of the winter transfer window.
Spurs secured Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich after a late change of heart from the Frenchman, who was influenced by a phone call with Ange Postecoglou.
The France U21 international followed Antonin Kinsky and Kevin Danso in joining Tottenham.
However, there was another forward Spurs enquired about before signing Mathys Tel in Joao Felix♎ – who has enjoyed a fantastic start to life on loan at AC Milan from Chelsea.
Joao Felix scores 12 minutes into AC Milan debut
The Telegraph claimed that Tottenham asked about Felix💝 on the morning of deadline day during discussions to take Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea.
Aston Villa also wanted to sign Felixꦇ – although Chelsea preferred not to strengthen a Premier League rival and handed the Portugal international to AC Milan.
🎉It took the 25-year-old just 12 minutes to score for the Rossoneri after coming off the bench, netting a delightful chip in the Coppa Italia against Roma.

ꦑFelix made it 3-1 with his composed dink, ending any hope Roma had of equalising and sending AC Milan into the semi-final.
♑With calmness like this in the final third, it is a mystery as to why Enzo Maresca couldn’t manage to hand the man from Viseu more than three Premier League starts this season.
Mathys Tel is a better signing for Tottenham than Joao Felix
🍃While Spurs may not have signed Tel had Chelsea entertained their enquiry for Felix, the 19-year-old represents a more useful addition for Postecoglou anyway.
♉For a start, Tottenham have an option to buy Tel for £45m – whereas it feels unlikely Chelsea would have allowed such a clause for any loan involving Felix – which gives Spurs assurance they can sign the teenager permanently if he does succeed, rather than improving another club’s player for no long term gain.

🐼The Bayern Munich loanee can also play anywhere across the frontline, offering versatility Felix does not possess – which is beneficial for Spurs given the fact Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are currently injured.
Interestingly, Tel can also play in defenceꦫ – although we doubt Tottenham will look to utilise this versatility despite injury problems involving Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin.
