Aston Villa planning summer swoop for two players they failed to sign in January with both open to move

TBR Football understand Aston Villa are planning to try again this summer with bids to sign Alex Baena and Juan Foyth from Villarreal.

Unai Emery was keen to raid his old club during the winter transfer window just gone – but failed to secure the duo in addition to Donyell M𝄹alen, Andres Garcia, Marcus Rashford, Axel Disasi and Marco Asensio.

TBR Football understand Aston Villa held talks with Foyth 🌊– who Emery has wanted ever since he replaced Steven Gerrard – while the Villans also spoke to Baena.

Ultimately, Villarreal did not want to sell either player during the middle of the campaign, as t🦹he Yellow Submarine push to finish in the top four of La Liga.

However, sources have now informed TBR Football that Aston Villa are not giving up on bringing Alex Baena and Juan Foyth to Villa Park.

The duo remain high up on the shortlist, with Aston Villa actually speaking to Baeওna in every transfer window since Januar♛y 2023.

TBR Football understand Arsenal also like Baena – along with Tottenham.

How Alex Baena and Juan Foyth have previously fared under Unai Emery

These two t♏ransfer targets are b🥂y no means random choices – Emery knows the pair very well, and is a huge admirer.

Baena previous♎ly made 37 appearances under the Spaniard at Villarreal, impressively scoring ten goals♕ while also providing eight assists.

In regards to Foyth, the 💙Argentina international showcased impressive versatility under Emery at Villarreal, playing on theও right and in the centre of defence, as well as in central midfield.

Th🐻e South American scored two goals and provided three assi🎃sts in 74 appearances under Emery, winning the UEFA Europa League in 2021 alongside Baena.
