Aston Villa fans react to Danny Drinkwater’s debut in thrashing by Manchester City
Aston Villa have signed Danny Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea this month after his spell at Burnley🌄 ended and Dean Smith han꧑ded him his debut against Manchester City yesterday.
Drinkwater formed part 𝔉of a midfield trio in a 3-5-2 charged with stopping the reigning champions but Villa found themselves 4-0 down at half time.
The C🐲helsea loanee had a torrid game, being robbed of the ball in his own box before Riyad Mahrez smashed home the visitors’ second goal.
He⛦ looked way off the face having had limited gametime in recent seasons and for that season, Villa fans blasted Dean Smith for throwing him in at the deep end as much as Drinkwater for his actual performance.

Smith left D🍌rinkwater on something of a hiding to nothing; chucking him into a game against a rampant City when he was vi🔯sibly not match fit and lacked sharpness.
That said, Drinkwater played very poorly and did🐬n’t make a good first impression on the supporters. Some on Twitter are calling for him to get more time to settle in, but there was some stinging criticism online also.
Villa got themselves a decent result in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final in midweek but against the sid༺e they would likely face in the final, 💎they were utterly outclassed from start to finish.
Pathetic after what Dean said about him in the week, ie got something to prove, rubbish he is finished & has been since Leicester, Chelsea knew, Burnley proved ౠthat too, only 1 hour this season, Villa mugged again, how many times? UTV

Looked well off the pace today but look who we were playing. I’m not one for time at this level when your getting paid what they do… but this time ൲maybe he deserves a little, chasing shadows today 🥴😩
