As Javier Hernandez fuels January exit talks, do West Ham need him?

๊Having started just two Premier League games this season, Javier Hernandez has driven speculation that he could depart West Ham in the near future in a controversial interview.

🔴“I don’t know [if I will leave in the summer], even this winter! I want to play, to participate as much as possible and I have the ability to win a place but I need to respect the decisions being taken and for that reason I am not closing the door on moving this winter. There is an exit door and another in the summer. I am happy here but I want to play more,” Hernandez told .

𝄹Hernandez has failed to justify his £16 million transfer fee since joining last summer and continues to fall down the pecking order, with Marko Arnautovic the current clear first choice.

📖The Mexican has notched two goals this campaign but has found his opportunities limited and is clearly unhappy with the number of opportunities that he has been given by new coach Manuel Pellegrini.

𓃲Instead, he may look to depart as soon as January. With Xande Silva coming through the ranks, Andy Carroll returning to fitness and Lucas Perez yet to have much of an opportunity, that may not be a huge concern for the Hammers.

🍌Given his wages, the opportunity to cash in on Hernandez and bring in a cheaper alternative may be too good to turn down. That will be even more likely if the forward looks to force a move.
