Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale says he’d love to play alongside Vardy

♔Aaron Ramsdale that Jamie Vardy is a player that he hates coming up against, with the Arsenal goalkeeper admitting that he is someone he would love to have in his side.

🔯Vardy has been a thorn in the Arsenal side throughout his Premier League career. In fact, the 35-year-old has scored more goals against the Gunners than any other team during his entire career.

🍸Ramsdale is yet to be beaten by Vardy while wearing an Arsenal shirt. However, he does have first-hand experience of seeing how lethal the England international can be.

🥀The Leicester City man scored a last-minute winner in December 2020 to inflict a sickener of a defeat on Ramsdale’s Sheffield United side. He proceeded to then destroy the corner flag with his celebration.

🐓That is not Vardy’s only goal against Ramsdale however. And that may explain why the goalkeeper picked out the Foxes man when asked about players he does not enjoy coming up against.

🍷“The one I hate playing against most is Jamie Vardy. The guy just doesn’t stop running. I’d love to have him on my team, hate playing against him. I’ve played against him five times now, he’s scored four times,” .

Ramsdale comments particularly interesting after Arsenal pursuit of Vardy

ꦫOf course, in another world, Ramsdale and Vardy could have ended up as teammates together with Arsenal. The Gunners made a bid for the striker six years ago after Leicester won the Premier League title.

♛In fact, . So Leicester were largely powerless to stop him leaving at that time.

🍰However, Vardy – who was once labelled ‘‘ by Pep Guardiola – ultimately opted to stay put.

🅰It would be fascinating to know how Arsenal would have fared had they signed Vardy that year. The following year, Alexis Sanchez ended the campaign with 24 goals in the Premier League. But behind him, no Arsenal player scored more than 12.

⭕They did not have a particularly lethal striker until Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came in. So it is hard to argue that they would not have been much better off had they managed to sign Vardy when they made their move in 2016.
