Arsenal consider late bid for £40m Everton attacker who modelled his game on Thierry Henry
With just days remaining of the summer transfer window, Mikel Arteta is searching for the last piece of the puzzle for Arsenal in their pursuit to win the Premier League.
Arsenal could have Mikel Merino available to face Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend, another excellent signing for the club.
Merino would join David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori as the club’s three permanent arrivals this summer, a stellar trio.
That being said, Arsenal are unlikely to stop there, and could still sign as many as two or three more players.
Arsenal are pushing to sign Joan Garcia right now, a move that will depend on Aaron Ramsdale’s departure.
Of course, given that Arteta could also sanction moves for Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson this week, Arsenal will have lost several homegrown players for their quota.
And given that Arsenal also would like to add an attacker to their squad before the window closes, they may now have found the perfect solution for both issues.
Arsenal considering cut-price offer for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has often been linked with Arsenal in the past – a player Arteta must regard highly.
And according to , Arsenal are now one of three Premier League sides considering a late bid for Calvert-Lewin.

Everton are ready to sell Calvert-Lewin this summer given he isn’t currently intending to sign a new contract with the club.
And with just one-year left on his deal, Arsenal could swoop in.
According to the aforementioned report, Chelsea are also monitoring the situation, believing that Calvert-Lewin could become available as a ‘cheap option’.
Newcastle United refused to pay Everton’s £40m asking price for Calvert-Lewin earlier this summer, only valuing the striker at £25m given his contract situation.
And therefore, it remains to be seen whether Sean Dyche’s side will have adjusted their price tag since then.
Calvert-Lewin grew up Thierry Henry, and whilst he would never have the impact of the Frenchman in north London, he could prove an effective alternative to Kai Havertz.
However, the 27-year-old hasn’t quite delivered the level of performances many would have hoped at Everton following his prolonged run of fitness.
But perhaps Arteta could be the man to take the striker’s career to the next level.
