Arsenal chief Edu defends summer signing Willian, but comments may not wash

Arsenal’s technical directo﷽r Edu has come to the defence of Willian, urging supporters to give him t🐎ime.

The Brazilian has arguably been one of the 🐼most criticised players for the Gunners in 2020/21, with some suggesting he just isn’t justifying his huge £192,000-a-week wages ().

He starred on his debut against Fulham, providing to as⛄sists at Craven Cottage, but Willian has since struggled and is still yet to open his account for the Gunners.

Some have been clamouring for him to be replaced by Reiss Nelson or the fit-again Gabriel Martinelli, and Edu – a key factor in bringiꦫng the player to the club – has now spoken about t𒊎he situation.

He said (): “Listen, everybody knows Willian. If people say th💯at he’s not a good footballer then maybe they don’t know football because he has always performed at the top, top level. Then he moved.

“For me, Willian is a question of time to be performing how w🦹e know he can.

“What do you expect? Do you expect it straight away? Boom! Willian can be t♌he best one? But he needs a little bit of time, it’s strange as well to say that but you need time to know the players who you are going to play with.

“Tr﷽aining, he’s training properly. His behaviour? Top, as always. Training? Fantastic. For me, it’s just a question of 🅷timing.”

TBR’s View – Edu’s comments won’t wash

Edu says that it’s just a question a time with Willian, but his verdicꦡt probably won’t go down too well with fans.

Willian is a vastly experienced player, and to have such little impact for Arsenal so far in terms of creating chances and scor♔ing goals is disappointing.

More is expected from one of the club’s top earners, and the 70-cap Brazilian needs to turn things around quickly and justify Mikel Arteta’s continued faith in h𒉰im.
