We’re into the final knockings of the transfer window, and it’s at this time of the month that clubs and players begin to panic.

Indeed, everyone in the game is starting to get a bit antsy about their last-minute moves and what options are open to them.

Arsenal are certainly a team that needs to be busy in these final days of the transfer window.

Indeed, Arsenal need a new striker through the door.

Gabriel Jesus is out for the rest of the season, and Mikel Arteta needs more firepower.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of options – Evan Ferguson has been linked to Arsenal recently, but, as ever, in the final days of the window, another opportunity has opened up for the north London club.

Mathys Tel has been linked to Arsenal in the final days of the window, and according to The Independent, Arsenal are shocked that the French striker is available.

According to , Arsenal are shocked by the fact that Tel is available with just days to go in the January transfer window.

Tel had been linked to Chelsea this month, and now, Arsenal are on the scene.

More pertinently, this report also states that Tel is very open to a move to north London.

Arsenal were linked with Tel last January, but a deal wasn’t possible, but now, it appears as though this avenue has opened up at the last minute.

Of course, Arsenal are no strangers to doing last-minute opportunistic deals from out of nowhere.

Arsenal’s history of late January signings

Arsenal could do a late deal for Tel in this January transfer window, and this would be very on brand from the Gunners.

Indeed, Arsenal have long been the masters at waiting for market opportunities to open up and moving rather than forcing matters themselves.

A lot of Arsenal’s best January business has been conducted right towards the end of a transfer window.

Jorginho, Martin Odegaard, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Andrey Arshavin were all signed in the final weeks of their respective January transfer windows, and all four turned out to be inspired signings from Arsenal.

Tel could be the next player to join Arsenal in such a manner, and he’ll be hoping to have a similar impact to the aforementioned players.

Whether or not Arsenal can get this deal done remains to be seen, but it appears as though the Gunners may have sniffed out another late transfer opportunity from out of the blue in January.
