Arsenal begin talks over extending forward’s contract amid Kai Havertz injury news
Arsenal have reportedly begun talks over extending the contract of one of their forwards in wake of Kai Havertz suffering a serious injury blow.
Kai Havertz sustained a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai, with an assessment undertaken upon their return to London on Tuesday.
Scan results are understood to have confirmed that Havertz is unlikely to play again this season, although it has yet to be decided whether he will require surgery.
TBR Football understands that Arsenal will not look to the free transfer market in wake of the Havertz injury blow.
In another show of faith towards Arsenal’s current squad, it has been reported that the Gunners will look to tie one of Havertz’s teammates down to a new contract.

Arsenal in talks with Gabriel Martinelli over new contract
The player in question is Gabriel Martinelli, who has been a crucial member of Mikel Arteta’s squad for a number of years now.
Arsenal have now turned their attentions towards attempting to tie Martinelli down to a new long-term contract, according to GiveMeSport.
The Gunners have reportedly begun talks with Martinelli and his representatives over a new deal in the hope of convincing him to remain at N5.
And while talks are in the early stages, there is a feeling among all parties that an agreement will be reached by the end of the season, added the report.
How Martinelli has fared at Arsenal
Arsenal struck gold with Martinelli when they signed him from Brazilian club Ituano for just £6million in 2019.
The Brazil international has gone on to make 209 competitive appearances for Arsenal, registering 48 goals and 26 assists in that time.
Emile Smith Rowe recently said Martinelli was one of the most skilful players in the Premier League, the Fulham ace having played alongside the Arsenal star for years.
Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – another former Arsenal teammate – backed him to become a “superstar” back in 2020.
Admittedly, Martinelli has struggled somewhat this season, with just seven goals and four assists from 35 outings in 2024/25.
However, he has done well in stepping up to the plate in wake of Bukayo Saka’s injury, with Arsenal fans praising Martinelli on social media.
The 23-year-old is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, though he is expected to be back before the end of the season.
