Arsenal and Liverpool have both held talks to sign ‘unique’ striker who impressed Thierry Henry
Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United have all made contact with Jonathan David’s camp recently, TBR Football can reveal.
David has scored 23 goals in 44 games for Lille this season and after a five-year stay at the club, he’s ready for his next challenge.
The Canadian striker is one of the most sought after free agents ever to come to the market, a 25-year-old who arguably still has his prime years ahead of him.
All of Arsenal, Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea are in the market for a new striker this summer along with several other Premier League sides.
And upon the expiration of his contract with Lille at the end of June, David will be leaving for the next step in his career, having scored over 100 goals for the French club.
Premier League sides stepping up Jonathan David race
That being said, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that top Premier League sides have been in contact with David’s camp.
The striker has spoken with a number of clubs and as previously revealed, Barcelona are David’s preferred destination.

Barca have held talks and they remain the most likely landing spot, but discussions have also taken place with clubs in Italy, including Inter Milan and Juventus.
Until recently, there had been relatively little contact in England other than West Ham’s attempts to land David.
West Ham also want Angel Gomes too, David’s Lille teammate who will also be out of contract.
TBR understands that the Hammers’ offer remains on the table, but David’s camp do not regard them as leading the chase.
Instead, David is on the radar of Arsenal, Liverpool, United and Chelsea who have had some contact with the striker’s agents — but as yet offers have not been made.
Thierry Henry has been impressed by Jonathan David
Described as having a ‘‘ by Canada manager Jesse Marsch, David has been linked with English sides for a few years now.
And it might interest Arsenal fans in particular to hear some comments that Thierry Henry made about David’s style back in 2022.
Speaking on , Henry was impressed by the Canadian’s ‘directness’, a player who’s even made a lot of progress since then.
Praising David, Henry said: “When you have a player like Jonathan David, who runs the way he does, in behind, his directness.
“If he sees the centre-back dropping, then he will go in behind. But as soon as he sees there is a gap, he will run and he is also pretty strong too and he loves contacts.”
