Arne Slot shares why Jarell Quansah could be a hit at right-back for Liverpool ahead of likely League Cup final start
Liverpool remain in the picture for a domestic double this season as they sit top of the Premier League table and are also in the League Cup final.
The Red🎀s are in cup final ac💛tion this Sunday as they face Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium.
However, Liverpool are currently facing an injury crisis at right-back and will go into the game without Trent A♎lexander-Arnold, Coꦆnor Bradley and Joe Gomez.
Alexander-Arnold i🧜s facing an extended spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury sustained against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions 🐎League on Tuesday night.
Jarell Quansah is now the likeliest candidate to fill in at right-back and, speaking ahead of Sunday’s final, Arne Slot shared why he thinks the 22-year-o✃ld could do well.

Arne Slot says Jarell Quansah at right-back offers Liverpool an ‘extra quality’ in terms of set-pieces
Slot, speaking to the Liverpool media team on Friday, explained how Quansa💦h’s mentality and quality make him a good fit at right-back.
“I think he showed in hi𒀰s recent performances that he’s outgrown being called a talent,”ꦰ said Slot, as per the Liverpool .
“That’s probably what Thomas Tuchel saw and sees as well by 🤡giving him a call-up (to the Engl🤡and squad).
“H🎶e did really well the last few times he had to play for us an🅺d even in a position he’s not completely used to as a right full-back.
“But in my opinion, he has also the qualitie𒊎s to play in that position.
“He’s strong, he’s fast, he’s very comfortable with the ball and it gives us an extra quality i𓄧f we play 🐎him, which we saw [against PSG], in terms of set-pieces.
“Becauꦍse he was th🤡e one that was this far away from us qualifying for the next round by heading the ball onto the post, because that one was not offside.
“He showed mentality and that he had🐲 quality. That’s already what we knew when we saw him playing last season.”
Liverpool’s record with Jarell Quansah at right-back
Quansah has only ever made eight senior ap🥂pearances at right-back throughout his professional career, compared to 70 in the centre ofꦐ defඣence.
However,𝕴 seven of those eight appearances have come under Slot this season, so he’s as familiar as can be with that position at this moment in time.
In addition, Quansah has played as a right-bac♚k in a number of academy games.
Liverpool have won five and drawn🎃 two of the eight matches the Warrington-born defender has starღted at right-back.
Quansah also won both of the Under-18 Premier League outings he ෴started in that position too.
In addition, he has one win and one draw from three games as a right-back for Liverpool’♛s Under-21s in the Premier League 2.
