Ange Postecoglou may have unearthed the new Harry Kane at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur are up and running in pre-season, having contested their first major friendly of the summer.
Spurs did contest a behind-closed-doors friendly against Cambridge last week, but on Wednesday, fans were able to see them in action away at Hearts.
Tottenham, who won 7-2 against the U’s, went on to win comprehensively once again, running out 5-1 winners in Edinburgh.
Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Tottenham on 39 minutes, curling home after James Maddison had squared the ball to his teammate.
Lawrence Shankland equalised at the start of the second half, pouncing on an Yan Dhanda ball to fire home into the bottom corner.
However, Will Lankshear put Spurs back in the lead on 55 minutes as he clinically dispatched the ball into the far corner after a superb Djed Spence through-ball.
Mikey Moore then struck on 66 minutes, surging into the box and weaving past his markers before slamming into the net, and Spence slid in to meet Timo Werner’s delivery six minutes later.
Five minutes from time, Lucas Bergvall curled in a cross and Dane Scarlett tried his luck with a header. While it was saved, Ashley Phillips touched in the loose ball to make it five.
All in all, a good night for Tottenham and their fans, with many of their young players giving great accounts of themselves.
Indeed, Ange Postecoglou may well have unearthed a new striking sensation at Spurs, a player whose style of play is reminiscent of Harry Kane.

Will Lankshear similar in style to Harry Kane
The player in question is Will Lankshear, who has been absolutely sensational for Tottenham at academy level since joining from Sheffield United in 2022.
The 19-year-old striker has registered a staggering 30 goals and five assists from just 39 appearances for Tottenham at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level.
And on Wednesday night, Lankshear made an impressive cameo for Spurs.
He came on at the break and made way just after the hour, but managed to score a great goal in his short stint on the pitch.
During and after the match, a number of Spurs supporters likened Lankshear’s style of play – including how he scored the goal – to a certain Harry Kane.
Indeed, Kane made his Tottenham debut against Hearts, in a Europa League playoff second-leg encounter at White Hart Lane back in August 2011, as per the .
Though that was a competitive game and Wednesday night’s match was a friendly, it’s still interesting to see a Kane-like striker come to the fore against the same opposition.
It will be interesting to see what the next few weeks bring for Lankshear. After his heroics at Under-21 level, an EFL loan is surely on the cards, and Tottenham will be eager to see how he fares.
