Alan Shearer praises Liverpool man who is a ‘forward’s dream’

Alan Shearer has waxed lyrical about Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance in the 4-0 win over Arsenal.

Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed a brilliant return to form this season. He took his tally of assists to nine for the 2021/22 campaign on Saturday.

He’s now registered 52 in total for Liverpool which for a right-back is mightily impressive, to say the least.

The Liverpool academy graduate endured a rotten end to last season.

He was injured in a warm-up game ahead of Euro 2020 and missed the tournament in which England reached the final.

That does seem to have benefitted Liverpool though. Alexander-Arnold looks bang in form right now and is edging back to his best.

Shearer was certainly impressed at the weekend and he thinks the club’s strikers must love him!

“Brilliant again. Produced another two quality assists in an emphatic 4-0 home victory against Arsenal. A forward’s dream!”

Alexander-Arnold will be back in action for Liverpool tomorrow night when they face Porto at Anfield.

The Reds are already through to the knockout stages, although Jurgen Klopp is still likely to select a strong team.

Integral: Alexander-Arnold so important for Liverpool

Last season, the player was forced to take some criticism for some less than impressive defending but this season he’s really starting to shine again.

His assists are a massive asset for Liverpool and the club’s forwards must relish seeing him start in the team.

With more experience, his defending will improve and Klopp is exactly the man to help strengthen those attributes.

The club’s forward players typically take the plaudits for Liverpool but right now, Alexander-Arnold is playing as well as anyone in the Reds’ ranks.
