AC Milan fans react as Tottenham make move to buy Fikayo Tomori and have concerning message

AC Milan fans have been reacting to the potential sale of Fikayo Tomori to Tottenham Hotspur with a deal agreed between the two clubs.

Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement for Tomori with Milan and are now awaiting the player’s response to the move back to England.

A fee worth around £25m has been agreed with the Italian giants for the 27-year-old and Milan supporters have been given their honest thoughts on the deal.

AC Milan fans happy to sell Fikayo Tomori to Tottenham

AC Milan fans appear relatively happy to be selling Fikayo Tomori to Tottenham for £25 million despite their lack of central defenders.

The England international is expected to remain at Milan until after the Derby della Madonnina to avoid Sergio Conceicao being left short in defence.

The general consensus among Milan’s supporters regarding Tomori’s form since their 2022 title-winning season is that it has significantly dropped off since then.

The defender has found himself on the bench for large parts of this campaign and that is why the Italians are so open to letting him leave this month. Milan fans have given their verdict on the deal via X.

One fan said: “It’s been two years now that Tomori has played very badly, he’s the right guy to sell! A 27-year-old player who will never be a great defender. Let’s move on.”

“He’s one of the select few that shows he cares but he’s been full of mistakes and was always weak in the air,” added another.

One supporter believes the environment hasn’t been right for him in Milan: “For me, Tomori is a solid defender but lacks guidance and quality coaching. Now that we’re parting ways, the least fans can do is show gratitude and support a player who contributed to the club’s rise.”

Finally, another fan added: “If I saw someone approach for Tomori two years ago I would feel mad, today, none of it…”

Alasdair Gold’s concerns about Tottenham Fikayo Tomori move

Alasdair Gold believes that Tottenham paying as much as £25 million for Tomori is concerning given the defender’s form this season and Cristian Romero’s long-term future.

The Tottenham journalist suggested that the North London club had spoken about bringing him in amid concerns that Romero could leave in the summer.

Gold told his YouTube channel: “He’s not been in the greatest of form, I saw the Italian media were quoting potentially £25 million and listen, it’s not my money but that seems a lot for a season that hasn’t gone so well for him.

“There have been occasions at Spurs about bringing him because of Romero’s long-term future, maybe Radu Dragusin’s future, Ben Davies’ future.

“I can understand it on a short-term basis but if you’re going longer term and paying a fee that kind of has knock-on effects.”
