Tottenham Hotspur have just been dealt a major transfer blow as one of their key targets has signed a new contract with his club.
Thomas Frank will be eager for the North London club to start bringing in some new additions with pre-season just around the corner.

However, a player whom they had been ‘very interested’ in has just committed his future to his current club, meaning they will now need to look elsewhere.

Jarrad Branthwaite signs new Everton deal, Tottenham were keen
Everton have confirmed that Jarrad Branthwaite has signed a new contract with the football club, which will run until the summer of 2030.
The England international had managed to establish himself as one of the top defenders in the Premier League over recent seasons, and his renewal is a major boost for David Moyes
Everton wanted £70m for Branthwaite, with Manchester United having made a strong push to sign the defender last summer.
TBR Football revealed on the weekend that Everton had agreed terms with Branthwaite over a new deal, and now the news has been confirmed.
Only recently were Tottenham seen as ‘very interested’ in Branthwaite, but now they will need to look elsewhere for a new central defender.
Spurs could have made a great signing by bringing in the 23-year-old, with Branthwaite being a similar profile to Micky van de Ven.
TBR Football can also reveal that Chelsea had been showing an interest in the young defender as they looked to bolster Enzo Maresca’s defensive options.
Meanwhile, Tottenham could need to replace Cristian Romero, who is linked with Atletico Madrid, but now, they will need to look elsewhere with Branthwaite off the table.
Tottenham’s target to replace Cristian Romero
Atletico are pushing to sign the World Cup winner this summer, and TBR Football understands that they have offered around £55 million.
Diego Simeone is desperate for Romero to join his team at the Metropolitano, and Rojiblancos want to make the move happen for their boss.
In terms of replacement, another player who could be off the cards is Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, who remains of interest, but is expected to leave next summer on a free transfer.
Speaking about other targets, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey said: “Do we see Tottenham getting involved in a situation like the one for Ousmane Diomande, something like that? Yes, I wouldn’t rule that out at all. Antonio Silva, I think we will see something like that for them.”
