£3.75m player’s Celtic career could be over after what Brendan Rodgers did this week
Brendan Rodgers has spoken for the last two weeks now about Celtic requiring quality to compete in the Champions League.
It was clear to everyone that the opposition in these games was targeting Celtic’s left flank as they looked to b♉♏reak down Rodgers’ defence. And it worked.
Greg Taylor was found wanting against Lazio as both of the Serie A side’s late goals came down th꧅e Scotland defender’s side.
So it is clear that an upgrade is required in that area of the team. If not an upgrade, then♍ possibly a wee spell out of the team will do Taylor good so that he can recapture his form of the last two seasons.
So, naturally, you would think Alexandro Bernabei would be the next in line to step in. Not so. And when you look at what Brendan Rodgers did on Wednesday night against Hibs, I don’t think we’ll see the £3.75m player again in a Celtic jersey.
Why Alexandro Bernabei’s Celtic career could be over
Thౠe 22-year-old was heralded as a big-money signing brought to the club by Ange Postecoglou to offer a challenge to Greg Taylor.
Used sparingly this season, Bernabei has only made three appearances in the green and white hoops this seas꧂on amassing 43 minutes of first-team footbaღll.
Bernabei also wasn’t selected in the Champions League squad this season for Celtic𒁃 in a move that really surprised the Hoops support. Especially after൲ his impressive preseason form.
And after Brendan Rodgers‘ latest snub, Bernabei could be on his way out of Celtic. The 23-year-old wasn’t included in the matchday squad against Hibs on Wednesday as Ta꧟ylor was s🍌elected once more.
Taylor was eventually substituted in the second half as Rodgers brought on right-back, Anthony Ralston as his replacement.

What made this more interesting was෴ that at full time, the Celtic manager confirmed the reason he 🐼took off Taylor was that he was feeling fluey prior to the game.
So rather than rest Taylor for the home game against Hibs and play Bernabei, Rodgers felt that even though the Scotland full-back w🦩asn’t 100%, he was a better risk than starting t✅he Argentine.
And to further compound Bernabei’s misery, the Hoops gaffer would al💜so rather play a right fullback out of position than stick in the 23-year-old in for a half-hour runout.
If that doesn’t scream the end of a player’s Celtic career, nothing will. I think Bernabei will be shown the door this January.
Will Celtic recoup much of the £3.75m they spent on him? It seems unlikely but it is clear that he has no futu𒐪re in Glasgow.
